Fertco at the 2022 Fieldays®

Welcome to the 2022 National Fieldays

Growing from Strength to Strength since 2000

Started in 2000 by a group of Te Awamutu farmers looking for a locally manufactured Dicalcic phosphate, Fertco has grown from strength to strength to an organisation employing over 40 people and operating two manufacturing sites. Initially opened and operating from Aviation Avenue Mt. Maunganui to be near the port of Tauranga, the Bay of Plenty (BOP) base has expanded threefold to include large storage facilities for the range of imported and locally manufactured products.

The initial market was sheep and beef farmers in the central North Island and dairy farmers in and around the Waikato and some of those initial customers are still sourcing their Dicalcic products from Fertco today. The opportunity to supply organic farmers and growers with agronomically effective products was also a fundamental focus and as such Fertco has the largest range of organically certified product in New Zealand.

As a service focused business, Fertco has built a strong reputation with the horticultural growers in the BOP and beyond with customers ranging from Northland to Gisborne. The recent acquisition of the former Terracare Dicalcic business in Te Awamutu has enabled some logistical improvements to service levels for our Waikato and lower North Island customers with products manufactured, custom blended and dispatched directly from the Te Awamutu factory. Based on adding value and forming enduring relationships, both the customers and staff at Fertco tend to be long term with many having been together 20 years or more.

Improving Soil Fertility – environmentally responsible

The initial and ongoing focus of Fertco is to improve fertility using sound science-based tools including soil testing and our in house CloverZone® programme to determine the most limiting factor for good clover growth be they physical, chemical or biological parameters.

Coupled with this is the environmentally responsible approach to use the “least leaky” most efficient form of any given nutrient with phosphorous and nitrogen being of key focus.

As the regulations around nutrient use and nutrient loss are becoming ever more defined, reporting and compliance is a necessary component of our business and we have stepped up to meet this challenge.

Fertco Site in the Fieldays Pavilion

Visit us at the 2022 National Fieldays®

Fertco have several proprietary products both conventional and organic which will be on display at the upcoming National Fieldays and the associated benefits can be discussed with one of our Technical Nutrient advisors on the day. There will also be a competition to win a “Spiky” bag spike every day and they will be available to purchase as well. The spikes are a user friendly and safe way to control the delivery of fertiliser from half or one tonne bulk bags.

You’ll find the friendly Fertco team at Site PB35 in the main pavilion and we’d like to discuss your business so drop in and say hello.
