Fishmeal – Organic Nitrogen
Fishmeal is an excellent source of nitrogen and is also fully BioGro certified.
Fishmeal contains approximately 63% protein and is biologically broken down into plant available nitrogen, the protein content equates to about 10% nitrogen.
Proteins are at the start of the mineralisation process within the soil, breaking down initially into amino acids. When these amino acids are broken down they release energy and ammonia. The ammonia is then converted to ammonium then nitrite then nitrate, whilst the energy is used by soil micro organisms.
