I have 110ha of Dairy in Rerewhakaaitu south of Rotorua and have been using Fertco for 5yrs under the advice of Rep Bruce May-Whitcombe. We produce 116000kgms from our 320 Fresian / Fresian cross cows.
Over the last summer (2006-07) feed was a bit short (due to low rain fall), however the cows still held good condition being mainly fed on grass, also we noticed the cows maintained nice glossy coats.
Our first application this spring has gone on and comments have already been made about what was applied. The response was a nice dark green grass growth, giving us a good cover for the coming season and since we don't use nitrogen a few more question were asked as to how it responded so well.
My spreading contractor has also commented on how easy and consistent the product is to spread. Soil quality has shown much improvement, there are millions of worms and excellent clover cover.
I feel that there are benefits with the Dicalcic Phosphate, over the farm we have 3 soil types ash, clay & scoria and all areas have shown good growth and responded well to Dicalcic.
I have no hesitation in recommending the product and service to others, and have done so.

We enjoy using Fertco products as we have seen some really good results from them. We find the Dicalcic helps the biological population in the soil by being less acid. The farm definitely lasts longer before drying out and comes back after a dry spell. We suffer from clover flea some years but when we get a free year clover comes back surprisingly well. John advised us to apply G Lime to ex onion cropping paddocks which were producing poorly. After 2 years they are really cranking up and producing as good as any other paddocks on the farm. Animal health has improved and we no longer get the milk fever we used to. In the past we could have had 5 down in one night and we are lucky to get 2 in a whole season now.
We enjoy dealing with our Fertco Consultant John Ferens as he is flexible and customizes mixes to suit soil needs, even able to incorporate our lime requirements little and often with our fert mixes. He is never pushy and is able to work our fert programme around other financial restraints occurring on the farm. Our carriers and spreaders say they have found Fertco excellent to work with and have never had any problems.

Graham Needham, Hauraki Plains

Graham Needham milks on 78ha of predominantly peat country near Ngatea. Initially he used the old standard 30% Pot Super with ‘fair to middling’ results. After being introduced to Dicalcic Phosphates by Fertco Consultant Andrew Marles 10 years ago the farm has never looked back. The ability to mix Fertco’s Granulated Lime with Dicalcic Phosphate in custom blended mixes has seen pH levels rise to 6.3-6.5! Which is unprecedented for peat soils. This has seen the paddocks stand out in the neighbourhood due to their intense dark green colour and rampant clover growth. Consequently milk production has skyrocketed and now sits at 87000kgms from the 220 Shorthorn/Ayrshire cow herd on an all grass system with a small amount of green feed maize grown on farm to get through the usual late summer dry patch. Says Sharemilker James Clothier ‘All the locals reckoned this years crop of maize was the best any had seen on the Hauraki Plain and we only used the Fertco standard farm fertiliser – no special maize mixes and no extra Nitrogen’.
